March and April 2000 News Items
The following four articles are
recommended to be read in the order listed, first "A Message From The
New Webmaster", secondly "The Truth About The Bible Codes",
thirdly "The Issue Of Near-Minimality", and fourthly "A
Protocol For The Statistical Analysis Of Bible Code Arrays".
A Message From The New Webmaster
March 20, 2000 Welcome
back! The new webmaster explains why the site has been offline the
last several weeks and discusses the future direction of the site.
The Truth About The
Bible Codes
March 4, 2000 Intended
as an update to The Bible Codes Fact Sheet, this article covers such
topics as: what are an ELS and matrix, answers to skeptics' claims against
the codes, how much can be found by pure chance, the criteria for a
significant array, the true purpose of the codes as compared to their
misuse, and the implications of the Bible codes. Also included is an
appendix which gives a detailed statistical analysis of two code pairings.
The Issue Of
Near Minimality
March 16, 2000 One
criterion often listed for arrays to be considered significant is that all
of their ELS's be "near-minimal" in skip distance. What
does this mean? This issue is discussed and guidelines are presented
for future publication of arrays at this site.
Additional news items follow below.

A Protocol For The Statistical Analysis Of Bible Code Arrays
This 3-part article presents a protocol for statistical analysis of
Bible code arrays, illustrates the protocol with two arrays as examples,
and discusses the need for critical judgment when using this protocol or
examining any Bible code findings. This protocol will now be the
standard for statistical analysis at this site.
April 19, 2000
Happy Passover (Pesach) to our Jewish readers and a joyous upcoming Easter
to our Christian readers! Roy Reinhold recently wrote a 3-part
article Statistics
in Bible Code Programs (recommended reading), and I have written a
short Response to the
article.
April 8, 2000
J.W. Embry and I collaborated on An Array Concerning Lucifer. After
he had suggested the topic, I found the second shortest skip distance
occurrence of "Lucifer" in the Tanach paired with
"rebellion" at a near-minimal skip and passed them
along to him. Afterwards, he found the other terms using the
near-minimal guidelines recently established. Thus this is the first
array published at this site using these new near-minimal guidelines.
April 2, 2000 The site www.biblecodecritic.com
has changed its name and URL to www.biblecodedigest.com.
Also, their monthly e-mail newsletter has changed its name from Bible Code
Research Digest to Bible Code Digest.
March 7, 2000 Codes
proponent Roy Reinhold was recently interviewed for the "Messianic
Vision" radio program on the subject of the Bible codes with a
scheduled broadcast of March 6 - 10, 2000. All five 15 minute
segments can be heard in RealAudio at www.sidroth.org/radio/default.htm
